Style Tips For a Late Summer Staycation

With the global pandemic continuing to wreak havoc across the world, we have had to accept that two weeks in the Mediterranean sun might not be on the cards this summer. Unfortunately, summer style opportunities have been very limited this year. The best chance to show off any of your favourite looks has been through trips to the supermarket.

The good news is that although the virus hasn’t been eradicated, people are starting to adjust to life during the pandemic. While we can’t enjoy weekend leisure activities quite like we used to, social distance versions of your favourite pastimes are likely to be an option. Individuals, families, and businesses are learning to adapt.

In a similar vein, those who’ve been in lockdown for the past few months are taking vacation time from work to embark on “staycations.” People are being encouraged to prioritize safety and enjoy what their local areas have to offer. Finally, albeit from a distance, you now have a chance to dress up this summer

If you’ve managed to organize a late summer vacation, here are four fantastic style tips to help get you prepared.

  1. Get comfy

For many people, they are not ready to face any sort of crowd just yet. This means hotels and certain BnB’s are immediately off the cards. Luckily, Airbnb provides several fantastic options for those looking for an isolated getaway. Just because you’ll be spending the majority of the time away from others, it doesn’t mean that you can’t inject some style into your staycation.

When nestling away in a luxurious Airbnb for a few days, flock to loungewear chic to provide all the answers you’re looking for. Pyjamas are the go-to for late morning brunch and movie nights. Consider getting your hands on a fleece-lined dressing gown to add an extra layer.

For afternoon walks or daytime activities, matching tracksuits and sports trainers are an absolute must. Over the last few years, sports-style and athleisure have made their way into mainstream fashion. There has never been a better time to find fashionable leisure clothing.

The perfect excuse to splash out on some luxury leisurewear has arrived. Get comfy in style.

  1. Eyewear for every occasion

Just because you’re not taking in rays on a cruise ship or by poolside, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t sparkle with your glamourous sunglasses. Although glasses are practical clothing items, they cannot be underestimated as fashion accessories. While it’s important to see well, why not look your best while doing so?

Prescription glasses come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Choose a style that matches your fashion sense, facial shape, and complexion. Clear lenses give off an air of sophistication and were all the rage last summer. This has continued throughout the summer of 2020.

Sunglasses trends are continuing along the retro path. However, we have moved on from the micro shades look and are seeing a push toward more shapely classic designs. Squared-off frames, aviators, and cats’ eyes are examples of the timeless shapes that are back in vogue.

From your reading glasses to your funky shades, ensure that you have eyewear for every occasion this summer.

  1. Beach vibes

If you’re keen to try out the British seaside, create some beach vibes with your fashion choices. Flaunt your figure proudly in a fabulous swimsuit if you’re brave enough to dip your toes in the water.

However, it’s important to be realistic. Layering is key for summer in the UK, particularly in late August. A kimono style dress robe is perfect to go over your swimsuit. It provides adequate layering while adding a splash of colour and style to the outfit. A frilled dress is another great way to get that summer feeling.

Accessorize with a beach bag, a fedora or straw hat, and summer footwear. Espadrilles are amazing options for beach vibes this summer.

  1. Country roads

If your staycation involves less beach and more nature, you’re going to need a different approach. Denim is and always will be a staple in every season. When escaping to the country this summer, introduce denim through your jeans or a jacket. Baggy or looser fits have replaced slim fitted options on the jeans pecking order over the past year.

As the weather will be unpredictable, it’s important to prepare for rain. Retro sporty rainproof jackets are the ultimate late summer layer if you plan on spending time outdoors.

For your feet, try to marry practicality with style. For light activities, trainers or trail sandals are ideal. If your plans are more intensive, opt for a more robust shoe.
