Perfect Fit Shutters from Order Blinds

Some of you will know I bought a house nearly two years ago, which was huge deal for me. Having lived in rentals since I was 17, to finally own my home was a big achievement and dream come true moment. Since then we’ve been trying to work our way through the house, room by room when we can afford it to renovate it. This year we finally got round to the living room. As with much of the house there wasn’t anything wrong with it per se, but it was dated and needed some work to bring it up to date. Plus, I really wanted to put my own stamp on it, something I’d never been able to do before. I had a vision, one part of which for the window space. With a lovely big bay window I wanted to create extra space with a window seat, and given the shape of the window, I knew curtains would not fit the bill. So I started looking at blinds, different systems and ways to dress the window. When I saw the Perfect Fit Shutters from Order Blinds, I knew this was the answer. Simple, chic and easy to fit.

Changing the space

To say the space was a bit grim before would be an understatement to be fair. The previous owners were elderly and although everything was good quality, it really wasn’t our taste. The space had old style vertical blinds, which were giving serious office block vibes. Thankfully today’s vertical blinds are much more stylish, but for this space I knew the shutter style blinds were much more in keeping with what I wanted to achieve.

No drill blinds

I think what appealed to me the most about the shutters was the fact I didn’t have to do any drilling, they could be fitted easily, by me. And I just I knew they would completely transform the space. The system is so easy to fit, you simply tap in the brackets between the beading and the glass then click in the shutters. All you need is a credit card to space the blinds correctly and in my case a rubber mallet. Our windows are quite old so it wasn’t just a case of slipping the clips into place, the was a bit of cajoling, but after figuring the best way to get the first clip in, I was away. The whole process took 30 minutes maximum!

A whole new look

I cannot tell you how much they instantly transformed the space. Before we’d even finished the work on the window seat, the room was already lighter, brighter and fresher.

As we got to work with our joinder on finishing the project, I just knew already these were definitely the right choice for our window space.

The finished look

Once all the cabinetry was in, we order some fabric for the upholstery, and set to dressing the space. I wanted to keep it fairly simple to really showcase the perfect fit shutters.  So we added a mix of cushions in green tones to fit with the room, and a little vintage stag ornament to the side, part of a set that are dotted around the room.

We’ve come a long way baby. I am so chuffed with how it all turned out. I cannot think of a better way to compliment the space than with these gorgeous shutters.

The light just streams through them, but they offer so much privacy at the same time. The space is somewhere I want to go now and just ‘be’ – which is really what a home should be all about. If you’re thinking of giving your space a bit of a spruce I cannot recommend these blinds enough.
