Creating Graphics with Free Fonts

**This is a sponsored post in association with Get Blogged**

As a blogger, you may find yourself wearing many hats. From Social Media guru to Graphic designer and everything in between. Creating and maintaining a blog takes a lot of hard work and the ability to learn new skills, fast.

Creating graphics and media that stand out from the crowd is an integral part of being a blogger. Building an identifiable and unique brand is a great way to do that. This might mean you want to create a logo for your brand for example, or even a whole brand kit with your own brand colours and fonts.

I particularly like using Canva.

Canva is a website where you can create graphics using your own photos, stock photos, colours and fonts. It has a huge variety of templates and different formats you can utilise. But you are limited to what fonts and designs they have available. One way to really make your mark is to download some freebie fonts online.

Design Bundles is another great resource for bloggers. It brings together affordable and free digital products such as Graphics, Templates, Mock Ups, Patterns, Illustrations and Craft Files which can be downloaded and easily integrated into websites like Canva, and software like Word, Adobe etc.

For me, downloading free fonts and adding them to Canva could not be easier. I’ve found that using the Brand Kit tool is a really great way to keep all your brand elements in one place. And it’s here you can upload your free fonts. Once you’ve downloaded a font you like from Design Bundles, all you have to do is open the zip file and upload the .ttf file to your brand kit area. There’s a clickable link that says ‘upload your font’ click on that and away you go!

Then all you need to do is get creating. Choose a template or start from scratch, and when it comes to adding text, you’ll see your freebie font in the ‘uploaded fonts’ section.

I had a little play around with two fonts I downloaded from Design Bundles. Using the ‘Briquete’ and ‘Grunge’ fonts I created a little quote graphic.

You can also use the fonts to create business cards for example. I took the same background and fonts and mocked up a business card using the quote as a strap-line for a motivational speaker and blogger business.

You can also use these techniques to create personal projects too.

I’m a mum and nowadays kids are looking for more unique ways to set their birthday parties apart from their friends. For the last couple of years now, Poppy has created her own personalised party invites using online design sites.

It’s a fun way to help your kids feel involved in the process and you can either save money by printing them off yourself, or you can send the designs to a local printer or online printing service.

Top Tip: Shop around price-wise to get a good deal, and they shouldn’t cost much more than the pre-designed invites you can pick up at supermarkets and stationers but they are so much more personal and fun!

We used this crystal inspired design template but swapped out the fonts that were there for the ‘Haney Love’ and ‘Liquify’ for the main announcements.

It’s a really simple process from downloading the zip file to dropping in the fonts, you can start using them straight away. And with so many to choose from, it’s really easy to find something that suits your brand or occasion, or whatever purpose you’d like to use them for!

I love how easy it is to create bespoke designs at the click of a button. With so much imagery online it can be hard to make an impact and stand out from the crowd. But by using the fonts from design bundles, chances are you will be able to create something that’s unique in style and impact.

I hope I’ve helped inspire you to try creating your own designs using fonts, it’s loads of fun and you’re not just limited to using them for blogging. For those of your getting married, how lovely would it be to create your own place cards, invitations and seating plan all using the same beautiful font? Honestly, the possibilities are endless.

I’d love to hear if you’ve given downloading free fonts a try, and how you’ve used them. Comment below with your ideas or message me with your designs! I can’t wait to see how you’ve got creating!
