Food: Afternoon Tea at Healing Manor

Oooh I do like doing food posts, I will literally work for food; seriously. And when it’s food like this, it’s not even work, it’s a complete pleasure! I first met Charlotte and Steve when they headed up another eatery in my local area; so when they took over Healing Manor, I was so excited to hear from them again!
Steve Bennett – The Lincolnshire Chef
Poppy, my best friend Giselle, her little girl Isobel and I headed to Healing Manor to sample their afternoon tea, but not just any old afternoon tea. Charlotte, Steve and the team have partnered up with the Beatrix Potter franchise to create the most special and beautiful afternoon tea.
Now I will pop some of my own photo’s in, but to be honest, I couldn’t do the tea justice, these stunning pro shots basically say everything I need them to, because it genuinely looked this perfect when it turned up!
What I particularly loved was that the menu was specifically devised around passages from the Peter Rabbit books, each dish a lovely little nod to a a picture or words within the stories.

On arrival we were greeted by the host, a fab chap who was cheery, warm and friendly. He was great with the kids and made us feel at ease. For a bit of a rough lass from Grimsby, this is so lovely, because beautifully appointed places like Healing Manor can often feel intimidating, not because they actually are, but because you kind of work it up in your head like that… does that make sense? Haha!
I digress… It’s needless to say, the food was absolutely delicious, and we all commented how full we were, when you really don’t think you’re going to be. I think you look at afternoon tea, all dainty and delicate and think “I’ll have to grab a bag of chips on the way home” but it’s really not the case, in fact we took some home in doggy bags because we couldn’t eat it all!
Yes that’s a veg patch… It was amazing.

After our afternoon tea we took the chance to walk round the beautiful grounds of Healing Manor, where I basically planned out my next wedding in great detail in my head and the kids played pooh sticks on the bridge that leads to the gorgeous secret island.
I just want to offer a huge thank you to the team for having us, we had the loveliest of times and fell completely in love with the place. The very best of luck to Steve and Charlotte in your new venture, we can’t wait to visit again!
