My story...

In the words of the oh so talented Miss Dolly Parton - "If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain."

You're Too Much...

I've often been described as too much. Too loud, too fat, too chatty. An attention seeking, loud clothes wearing, boob flashing, gobshite.

And folks, I can't think of anyone I'd rather be. But that wasn't always the case.

Before I found the world of plus size blogging, I would often listen to the opinions of others and strive to change and shape myself to fit their moulds.

From the ripe old age of 9 I was put on a diet. Enforced to change myself to fit other people's ideals. This would have a monumental effect on the way I viewed myself and my relationship with food. Throughout my teens and twenties, my pursuit of thinness led me to some very dark places and some very drastic actions.

Something Changed

Not long after the birth of my daughter, I was, like many new mums, incredibly lonely. I found myself trawling social media more and more, looking for something - friendship maybe, at the very least, just a stranger to chat with to help me get through the day.

It was on social media I found out about blogs. I'd never heard of them before. I was 31, this phenomenon had somewhat passed me by. But low and behold, here in front of my eyes were women who looked just like me, with round, soft bodies. Rolls of fat and chubby faces. Each and every one of them were living their best lives. Wearing the most wonderful clothes, unafraid and unapologetic.

Becoming BeBe

Inspired by what I'd seen, I had a poke around the internet and figured out how to start a blog. 'The Ramblings of Mrs BeBe' was born. With a very timid post about handbags, then another about jumpsuits; more and more posts followed, charting my adventures in clothing. Before long, I was contacted by big brands in the plus size fashion industry wanting to work with me. Little old me from Grimsby in Lincolnshire. I found myself attending swanky events in London, modelling in Manchester and even flying to Copenhagen... just for lunch!

As the Plus Size industry grew and more incredibly talented people came into the world of plus size blogging, I found myself slipping behind. I couldn't keep up with them and their glam London lives. After all I was a just a mum trying to make ends meet in a little northern town. So I began to diversify with the blog a bit more and spend some time trying to figure out what I wanted to do with it.

Just Me

Over the years, I've come to realise that the blog, more than anything, has been for me. A little corner of the internet to help me figure out who I was. And as it turns out, it's helped a whole load of other folk figure that out too. And that's what I love about it.

It's my happy place and I hope it is for others too. So please join me, or continue to travel with me as I embrace being too much, too loud, too fat Becky.

As it turns out, I wasn't too much. There was nothing wrong with me in the first place, it was everyone else's opinion that was wrong.
